The US demand spike maxed out inland capacity, containers were tied up in storage, and vessels stuck outside ports. But together we still moved more volumes than ever, and kept supply chains moving. As demand normalized and capacity was freed up, rates and service levels have come back to pre-pandemic levels.

Our members operate 90 percent of the global liner shipping capacity. Together, they transport about 60 percent of the value of global seaborne trade, and more than US$ 4 trillion worth of goods every year.
